Cinnamon Churros with Chocolate Dulce de Leche

I got this recipe from the blog Love & Olive Oil. The link for the recipe post is here, if you would like to check it out.

When I saw the post, I just had to try it, as I love churros!!

Birthday Cake

My dad's birthday was on Thursday, so I decided to make a simple white cake, the recipe for which I got on allrecipes.com.

My dad doesn't really care for chocolate, so it was a given to make a white cake. He also doesn't like frosting/icing on cake (which I think is crazy!), so I left the cake unfrosted.

But, I did make frosting, and kept it in a medium bowl, for those of us who do like frosting.

Here are a few photos of the cake.

Chocolate Cupcakes and Cookie Dough

A couple days ago, I decided to make chocolate cupcakes from scratch, as we had a container of cocoa powder with a recipe on the back for cupcakes. They came out pretty good, and one of my brothers even liked them.

I also decided to make yet another batch of eggless cookie dough. That stuff is addicting!!

So, here are some pictures of the cupcake making process. Enjoy!

Lemon Square Bars

I absolutely LOVE lemons, so lemon bars are perfect for me. I found this version of the bars a few years ago, and have been making it ever since. The recipe for them is here, if you would like to check it out.

They turned out pretty good, although they got a little burnt around the edges because I didn't hear the buzzer go off.

Here is the recipe, and some pictures of the process.
  • 2 cups sifted all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup confectioners' sugar
  • 1 cup butter, melted
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 5/8 cup lemon juice
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 9x13 inch pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, stir together 2 cups flour and confectioners' sugar. Blend in the melted butter. Press into the bottom of the prepared pan.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, or until golden. In a large bowl, beat eggs until light. Combine the sugar, baking powder and 1/4 cup of flour so there will be no flour lumps. Stir the sugar mixture into the eggs. Finally, stir in the lemon juice. Pour over the prepared crust and return to the oven.
  4. Bake for an additional 30 minutes or until bars are set. Allow to cool completely before cutting into bars.

Cupookie

I just found out about an amazing food business called Cupookie.

The designs on the cookies and cupcakes or so spectacular, and really professional looking. I would love to be able to get to that level of creativity in my baking someday.

I am so happy to have found out about Cupookie, and look forward to seeing what they do in the future!

Ice Cream Bread

Yesterday, a friend of mine reposted a recipe for Ice Cream Bread on Facebook, so I decided to check it out, and try making it. There are only two ingredients, which makes it very easy to make, and it turned out pretty good.

You can check out the recipe here, if you want to try it.

All you need for it are your favorite ice cream and self-rising flour. Just follow the recipe and it should come out right.

Here are some pictures of the process, when I made it.

A Great Find At a Local Thrift Store

I was recently at a thrift store, shopping around, and I found this cookie pastry kit. I love making cookies, so I thought this was perfect for me.

I hope to use it for the holidays this year, and maybe for my birthday (it's coming up in a couple months!!).

Thrifts stores are great, because they have some of the best stuff at reasonable (usually) prices. I have gotten many things from these stores, in great condition.

So, I am really looking forward to making cookies and whatnot with this thing. It looks like a great tool to have in the kitchen, and I am glad I found it.

Well, that's all for now. More to come later.

White Sheet Cake

The other day, I decided to try this recipe, but instead of making it as a regular sheet cake, I decided to make cupcakes.

I think I found this recipe on Allrecipes.com, and had saved it. I've been meaning to try it for some time now, but didn't actually make it until now. It turned out well, and I hope to make it many more times in the future.

Here are some pictures of the process.

3rd Annual Pie Off

Saturday, September 28th is the local library's 3rd annual Pie Off, and I hope to enter it. Or, at least, taste the pies that are entered.

I love baking, and pies are one of my favorite foods. So, hopefully I will remember this event. It's free, and I don't have to register to participate.

If I do participate in this, I will try and take pictures, and post them on here. I can't wait until the 28th!!

Sugar Biscuits

Today, I decided to make one of the recipes from the Harry Potter cookbook I got for Christmas a few years ago.

I made Sugar Biscuits (what the British call cookies), and they turned out well. I made them once before, and they were really good. So I decided to make them again. Here are some pictures of the process.

I love baking, so I enjoyed making these. If you love baking, or cookies, and love/like Harry Potter like I do, I think you would enjoy these cookies. Check out the Harry Potter cookbook, and try some of the recipes out. They are really good!!

Well, that's all for now. More to come later.
